Community Based Organizations are Joining Forces for Wellness
It's true. There's strength in numbers. We're seeking community based organizations to join us in making ours one of the healthiest regions in the nation. The most recent community health assessments would suggest we have a lot of work to do. We believe where philanthropy, health experts, and collective wisdom meet, we'll see sustainable results! Partner with us today.
Our approach is to engage Genesis Philanthropy Partner organizations so not to duplicate efforts, to use limited resources wisely, and to move quickly toward the best practices in health and wellness activities. It's easy to become a population health initiative Partner. To learn more about a Partner's role, and available grant funding, contact one of Genesis Philanthropy Affiliate Foundations: DeWitt Community Hospital Foundation, Mercer Foundation for Health, and Genesis Health Services Foundation. Here are our strategic goals.
With the help of several Partners listed below, Genesis Philanthropy launched its first initiative in 2015 -- free low dose CT (LDCT) screenings to detect cancer and other lung health issues. This life-saving initiative was generously funded through the Gene and JoAnn Regional Fund for Hospice and Cancer Care.
The Waddell Lung Screening Initiative concluded in December 2015. Final results will be shared in early 2016. To date, as many as 13 cases of cancer were detected through the screenings, meeting a national average.
We were proud to work with our community based Partners and Genesis Philanthropy Affiliate Foundations to help individuals know their risk for lung cancer, and to encourage those at high-risk to get a physician referral for a free LDCT screening.
