Genesis Nursing Scholarships Awarded

Five college nursing students and 20 current Genesis nurses who are advancing their educations have been awarded scholarships from the Genesis Foundation.

Earning the 2015 scholarships for college students pursuing baccalaureate degrees in nursing are Adam Earp, Davenport, St. Ambrose University; Alexandra Keleher, Orion, St. Ambrose University; Claire Reisen, Bettendorf, St. Ambrose University; Terra Wallarab, Orion, St. Ambrose University; and Katherine Wolf, Moline, Trinity School of Nursing.

The Genesis Foundation provides scholarships for students who have been accepted, or are already enrolled in an undergraduate baccalaureate-nursing program in an Iowa or Illinois college or university.

The scholarships are offered as forgivable loans if the recipient works within Genesis Health System for two years on a full-time basis upon completion of their degree.

The Foundation also awards health careers scholarships to Genesis employees.

The BSN scholarship recipients are Susan Comer, VNA; Jessica Culver, NCSS; Christina Elston, Genesis Medical Center, Silvis; Mary Gacii, Genesis Medical Center, Silvis; Angela Guhin; Genesis Medical Center, Davenport; Kimberly Higby, Genesis Medical Center, Davenport; VNA; Valerie Kelley, VNA; Marceline Kougbani-Sebou, Genesis Medical Center, Silvis; Shelia Kovacic, Genesis Medical Center, Silvis; Kelly Hornick, Genesis Medical Center, Silvis; Jessica Lienen, Genesis Medical Center, Davenport; Amy Lippens, Genesis Health Group; Jacquelyn Massie, Genesis Medical Center, Davenport; and, Carly Reed, Genesis Medical Center, Davenport.

The MSN scholarship recipients are Michele Cullen, VNA; Amy Fox, Genesis Medical Center, Davenport; Sharron Gephart, Genesis Medical Center, Davenport; Adam Haut, Genesis Medical Center, Davenport; Angela Mecham-Ainsworth, Genesis Medical Center, Davenport; and, Molly Stehn, Genesis Medical Center, Davenport.

Scholarships supported by gifts and by special events allow Genesis to build long-term relationships with highly trained and skilled health professionals who provide quality care to patients.

The Foundation’s largest fundraising event and primary source for nursing scholarships is the annual Genesis Pro-Am Challenge golf event. Golfers and non-golfers may register for the August 31 event at
